About the trainer
The trainer is an international expert on word of mouth marketing, social media, and international marketing including marketing strategy, positioning, customer evangelism, corporate blogging, and social networking. He is the Chief Navel Gazer at Navel Marketing and his work with hundreds of companies has generated not only amazing results, but helped him to hone a formula for building word of mouth marketing from the inside out. He is currently finishing a book detailing his formula called “Marketing from the Navel: How to become a Company Worth Talking About and Arm Customers to Spread the Word.”
He has been instrumental in launching and building several companies, divisions, and channels. He has launched well over 100 products and developed go-to-market strategies for companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 firms. His clients include such household names as Toyota, HP, Weyerhaeuser, and Microsoft. He was one of the early pioneers in the word of mouth and social media space and was one of the early contributors to this new discipline. Through his efforts, established companies have seen as much as a 30% growth in bottom-line profit within the first year. Even new companies have established themselves as market leaders within 6 months to a year.
For the last 6 years, the trainer has been running word-of mouth marketing agencies, conducting seminars, publishing articles internationally, and working with clients all over the world. He has been cited as an expert source for articles in Gannett publications, The Wall Street Journal, and Madison Magazine, Australia. His article, “Marketing Means Building a Better Mousetrap,” was recently published in Forbes India Online and he is an active writer for the Thunderbird Knowledge Network, the online publication for the prestigious Thunderbird School of Global Management. He is a frequent guest lecturer on the topics of social media, word of mouth, and customer evangelism and has taught special elective courses at the university level on these topics.

Media Prima NSTP Appeal for Humanitarian Aid for Flood Victims in Pakistan
PETALING JAYA, 19 August 2010 - In response to the deadly floods in Pakistan, which has resulted in the significant loss of lives and homes, Malaysia's Media Prima Berhad (Media Prima), the New Straits Times Press (M) Berhad (NSTP) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) today initiated a joint appeal to raise funds for humanitarian aid.
The Pakistan Disaster Relief Fund was launched by Datuk Johan Jaaffar, Chairman of Media Prima and Tan Sri Mohamed Jawhar, Chairman of NSTP here today. It was witnessed by His Excellency Mr. Khalid Masood, the High Commissioner for Pakistan in Malaysia and His Excellency Mr. Hans Olsen, UNICEF representative to Malaysia & Special Representative to Brunei.
"The emergency situation in Pakistan is massive and the need for disaster relief is urgent and immediate. Media Prima seeks to alleviate the burden of those affected by the ravaging floods with the launching of this fund,” said Datuk Johan Jaaffar, Chairman of Media Prima Berhad.
“Media Prima, working in partnership with NSTP will play its role in providing the public with updates on the crisis and to raise awareness for the fund. We jointly appeal for generous contributions from the Malaysian public and corporate bodies to the fund, to be channeled to the disaster victims through UNICEF,” added Johan.
The death-toll resulting from the flood has reached 1,600 and is increasing as the torrent continues to hit four of the nation's largest provinces- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Balochistan and Sindh. According to the OCHA (United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) report, up to 20 million people are affected by the ravaging flood and up to 6 million children have been affected, while 2.7 million children are in urgent need of aid.
More than 700 schools in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province were reportedly damaged by the floods and the damage assessments by the OCHA revealed 89 damaged and 52 destroyed health facilities in the areas affected by floods. (*UNICEF Situation Report: Pakistan)
Those affected are in dire need of humanitarian essentials such as shelter, food and drinking water, medical assistance, hygiene kits and other basic necessities. Contributions made by the public will be channeled to Pakistan to bolster existing relief efforts to provide for sustenance and reconstruction of lives at the affected areas.
Individuals and organizations interested in helping those affected by the floods can channel contributions via the following methods:
