"Prayatna" is a Sanskrit word which means Effort.

Prayatna sets the direction for Laya Music & Dance Theater's effort in initiating change in society by providing the subtle skills necessary to mould the young and active minds to face life's challenges.

Laya's underlying mission is to provide these young minds, experiences that encourage positive change, resources to manage the challenges and an opportunity to create a community that rewards us with hope.

This dream will be made possible with "Prayatna- The Effort"

Laya is also committed to undertake corporate social responsibility projects especially in addressing issues relating to the moral decadence of many young minds due to exposure to unhealthy practices and peer pressure.

Among the projects being conducted to date are:

· Providing Barathanatyam classes for 35 students in Rembia, Malacca at a much subsidised rate.

These students come from estate background and are generally from low income families.

· Providing Barathanatyam classes for 28 abandoned children and orphans from the Sri Saradha Devi Ashram for free.

.Laya hopes to reach out to more underprivileged children which will put a toll on its financial resources.

It is hoped that this production and many more to come will contribute to making Laya’s dream a reality.
