We are pleased to inform that European Union-East ASEAN Growth Area Business and Technology Partnership (EU-EAGA BizTech Partnership), a project co-funded by the European Commission (EC) under the Asia Invest II Programme and jointly supported by the State Government of Sarawak, Miri City Council, Sarawak, ConnectAsiaEurope e.V., Germany; Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX), Spain; Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines Foundation, Inc. (CCPFI) and The French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (CCIFV), will be held on 16-19 November 2009 at Imperial Hotel Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia.

This initiative comprises of Business Match-Making Event, International Conference, Capacity Building Programme, Business Partnering Seminar and Business Culture Training.

The project aims to improve the competitiveness of SMEs in both the EU and EAGA regions within the four key priority sectors of Environment and Energy, Natural Resources (Forestry), Agriculture/ Aquaculture and Ecotourism. We are expecting 200 – 250 participants to attend this auspicious event.

Pre-identified target groups of EU-EAGA BizTech Partnership consists of Small-Medium Enterprises (SMEs) within the 4 priority sectors, Chamber of Commerce, Government Agencies involved in Trade, Investment and Technology Promotion, Universities as well as R&D Institutions.

The Business Match-Making Event will be held on 18-19 November 2009. This 2-Day event aims to facilitate business and technology partnership by arranging one-on-one business meetings between participating organizations from the European Union (EU) and Asia particularly in BIMP-EAGA region to formalise business partnership such as trade & investment, joint venture, management contract, technical assistance, technology licensing, consultancy, trading of traditional and non-traditional products (such as carbon trading), public procurement, venture capital investment and R&D in the 4 key priority area of the project.

The profile of potential business collaboration of all registered participating organisations will be featured in our project catalogues (15,000 copies), which will be circulated to various targeted groups in Europe and EAGA/Asia.

In conjunction with this project, the organisers will be hosting a ½ Day Business Culture Training on 16 November 2009; 1 Day International Conference and 4 Sectoral Capacity Building Programmes (Environment and Energy, Natural Resources (Forestry), Agriculture/Aquaculture, Ecotourism) on 17 November 2009.

The Business Culture Training provides invaluable insights into existing different business cultures to avoid the usual pitfalls of cross-cultural business venture.

The Conference serves as a consultative platform for participants to exchange ideas and provide inputs to the local and regional institutional bodies within the EAGA in relation to trade, investment and technology partnership;

The Capacity Building Programmes comprise of a series of sessions under the theme of each priority areas (run in parallel) aim to build up the technical capacities of the participants.

Participants may present their profile of collaboration at the Business Partnering Seminar on 18 November 2009.

Customised request to meet up with potential partners in host country can be arranged.

The Asia Invest Programme will subsidise for 50% air-ticket cost or EUR 600 traveling incentive (whichever is lower) for selected 80 registered European Organisations and EUR 200 travelling incentive for selected 60 Asian companies (Philippines and Indonesia only).

Additionally, the registration fee is only EUR 50 - EU 180 because it is substantially subsidised. Furthermore, special room rates offered by Imperial Hotel Miri ranges from EUR 40 onwards per room per night is definitely another cost saving measure to succeed this initiative.

TCF 2009 @ 1 Utama is expected to attract numerous visitors from around Klang Valley area in this two day event.

Sports Camp 2-5 June 2009

Mid Year Holiday is on its way. Ever wonder how you can learn something new and have fun at the same time ?!

Come join the SPORTS CAMP for four days and three nights !! Organized by Raleigh International Kuala Lumpur, this camp is opened to students of 13-17 years that is interested on sports with no prior sports experience or involvement needed.

Besides the chance to get to learn sports skills, you can meet new friends or befriended with people with the same interest and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities.

It’ll be held from 2-5 June 2009. The campsite is located at OUTBAC, Broga near Semenyih where facilities of outdoor activities are provided.

During this camp, you’ll learn about these sports:
- Floorball
Also known as floor hockey. It is a fast paced sport played on a court. Similar to hockey, the objective is to get a small plastic ball into a net with the aid of the floorball stick. Floorball is popularly played in Penang, KL and Selangor.

- Touch Rugby
Touch Rugby is a limited-contact sport compared to rugby. Tackles of opposing players are replaced by touch, hence the name Touch Rugby. It was firstly introduced in Malaysia officially around 1998 where the first tournament was held for those aged below 12. Touch rugby can help to promote rugby among kids and women. Nowadays, it is commonly played by both sexes or mixed as a weekend social game or as a competition.

- Softball
A direct descendant of baseball, softball is a team sport that has rules similar to its predecessor. The factor that set softball apart from baseball are that softball involves a smaller diamond and a larger ball is used.

- Tchoukball ( pronounced as “chook-ball” )
One of the latest sports introduced in here, Malaysia has been actively involved in international tchoukball competitions. Tchoukball is a mixture of handball, volleyball, squash & basketball. Combine these 4sports and you will get Tchoukball. It is a team sport that is played with a ball & two tchoukball frames. The objective is to shoot the ball into the frame with their hand.

These sports will be coached by people who are experienced or trained in the sports mentioned above, so worry not of being bored as you will get to learn the fundamental skills of the sports and the real life game situations. Besides, basic sports science is incorporated in the learning progress, so you not only play hard but also play smart.

During some break, you’ll have time for recreational activities such as flying fox, night hiking, Frisbee, kayaking, obstacles challenge, etc. This could be the chance for you to build up your physical strength in this holiday!

It will be a sensational holiday for teens as it could rock your holiday with lots of fun !!

A fee of RM 350.00 will be charged for participation, this fee includes accommodation and food at OUTBAC, facilities fee, equipment fee and transportation. More details about registration and payment will be given along with the form emailed to you.
